Meet Bill Moritz
Hi, I am William (Bill) Moritz, and I want to help Arnold continue to grow. Here is a little bit about me.
I am 67 this year and I bring a wealth of experience and dedication to my candidacy for Mayor of Arnold. My Mom and Dad moved us to Arnold as I was entering second grade. As a nearly lifelong resident of Arnold, I have proudly lived in and love our community. My brothers, sister, and I, are graduates of Fox High School. My wife, Debbie, a Lindbergh girl, now calls Arnold home, too. Our kids are Fox grads.
I left Arnold for the first time for a US Air Force enlistment. I trained as a fighter aircraft maintainer and was stationed in Germany and in Texas. After the Air Force I returned home and attended Parks College of St. Louis University.
I was hired by McDonnell-Douglas in July 1981 as a union-represented fighter aircraft Flight Mechanic. I started there in the delivery center and worked on the first production F/A-18 Hornet. Shortly after Debbie and I were married, we took an assignment to Saudi Arabia in 1983 where I trained Royal Saudi Air Force mechanics to maintain their F-15 Eagle fighter. I returned to the St. Louis factory in 1985. I went into engineering and specialized in aircraft systems. In 1989 I took an assignment to Australia as part of our technical assistance team for the Final Assembly and delivery of AF/A-18 Hornets for the Royal Australian Air Force. Both our children were born in Australia. My last overseas assignment was back to Saudi Arabia as the engineering technical lead for an F-15 Assembly program. I returned home in 2021 and retired from Boeing in 2022, after 41 years.
Community Service – I served our community as a councilman for Ward 2 on the Arnold City Council for four terms. That included three consecutive terms from April 2007 to 2013, as well as my current term, which began in April 2023 and will conclude in April 2025. I first ran on road safety in our city. Each time I ran for the city council, I proposed at least four things I wanted to work to achieve in my term. I was able to accomplish that list each time. I believe in and ran for the council back then on the idea that Eminent Domain should not be used for a shopping center. That is still how I feel about it. ED has its uses, but not for a shopping center. Negotiate and pay people a fair price for their home and avoid any taking. It is just not worth it.
Throughout my public service, I have always prioritized transparency, accountability, and availability. That idea served me well as an engineer and manager at Boeing. I promise to continue that as Mayor of Arnold. I have a great relationship with the employees of Arnold and it is certainly a positive asset for getting things done.
"Throughout my service, I have always prioritized transparency and accountability. I promise to continue that as Mayor of Arnold."
